Liturgy Live - Question with Grace - 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time

In this weeks podcast we go over the meaning of the Shema prayer from the book of Deuteronomy. We shift into talking about the sacrifice of the Mass and the three reasons for the sacrifice. I love you, Thank you, and I'm sorry. We talk about the 2 greatest commandments, and how this scribe approached Jesus in a different way than the other Scribes and Pharisees. Christ welcomes questions when we are sincerely searching for the truth. We need to have an open disposition to receive the grace and truth that Jesus so wants to give us.

Liturgy Live - Leading the Remnant - 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week we talked about how it feels like we are a remnant of the church, growing up in the 90s and straying and returning we feel we are the products of an insufficient catholic teaching. We reflected on the progress of the New Evangelisation, and how there are so many more ways now, to bring the understanding of Christ to the people by way of technology. More importantly we talked about how faith lived out in the family is so much more important, that if we had had that we would not have strayed, or we would have "got it". The second reading we discuss the priests role in leading back the remnant of the church. That like Bartimaeus we need to know who we are and what we want so we can fully throw off our sins and go to Christ when he calls, knowing what to ask of Him. We will make others uncomfortable when we call out to Jesus and praise him, in return, call out louder.

Liturgy Live – Hold Fast – 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week we talk about the Suffering Servant, Christ who suffers for us so we can find Him in our own suffering. He has been tested so we can follow Him in our own testing. We bring in movies and sports to express stories and human tendencies. Should we strive for Glory? Sometimes we don't understand what we are asking God for. Thankfully God uses the misunderstood and the unqualified to build His Church. There is Hope, so Hold Fast!

Liturgy Live – Cost of Discipleship – 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week on Liturgy Live we talk about Wisdom, the word of God, and the cost of discipleship. In the book of Wisdom, the Word is a "fierce warrior bearing the sharp sword", we see throughout the gospel how people hear the Word and are cut to the heart. Some don't have the disposition to grace to respond to God's loving gaze, let alone his call to follow him.

Liturgy Live - Marriage Matters - 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week in readings might be the week people get ticked off. Marriage is a touchy subject in the life of the Church right now. We look at these important readings and talk about them in the light of the culture vs the light of Christ and what He wants from us. We have the job of cleaning up the mess that following the culture has made. The job is one of suffering and patience, all addressed in this weeks readings.
